Major Sewer Improvement Effort

SEI Project: 36th Street Closure

36th Street, just east of 2nd Avenue April 28, 2017

On Monday, May 1, 2017, the contractor will begin work to install a 36-inch sewer pipe, inside a 54-inch casing under the Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR) that crosses 36th Street just east of 2nd Avenue (jack and bore operation). In order to accommodate the extensive excavation required to complete the work, 36th Street from South 2nd Avenue to just east of the UPRR, will be closed to all traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained from either side of the track. East and westbound through travel on 36th Street should use 29th Street/Silverlake Road or the I-10 frontage road as alternate routes. This closure will be in place 24-hours a day, 7-days per week, until early June, 2017.
